Implement Mutual Visa-Free Travel

According to the latest report from CCTV News, China and Singapore will implement mutual visa-free travel starting February 9, 2024. Here is the full report from CCTV News:

On the 25th, representatives from the government of the People's Republic of China and the government of the Republic of Singapore signed the "Agreement Between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Singapore on Mutual Visa Exemption for Ordinary Passport Holders" in Beijing. The agreement will officially take effect on February 9, 2024, which coincides with Lunar New Year's Eve. From that date, ordinary passport holders from both countries will be able to enter each other's territories without a visa for tourism, visiting relatives, business, and other private affairs for stays of up to 30 days. Those intending to engage in activities such as employment or journalism that require prior approval, or who plan to stay in the other country for more than 30 days, must obtain the appropriate visa before entering.

To date, China has established visa exemption agreements with 157 countries covering various types of passports, and simplified visa procedures with 44 countries. Full mutual visa exemptions have been achieved with 22 countries, including Singapore, Maldives, and Kazakhstan. Additionally, more than 60 countries and regions offer visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival for Chinese citizens. This significantly enhances the ease of travel for Chinese citizens abroad, further increasing the "golden value" of the Chinese passport.

In an exclusive interview with CCTV, Wu Xi, Director-General of the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, stated that in recent times, China has introduced a series of measures to facilitate personnel exchanges. These actions underscore China's determination to advance high-level opening-up. We welcome friends from around the world to visit China for tourism, business, investment, and study. Wu also emphasized the importance of respecting local laws and bilateral agreements, and working together to maintain orderly exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals.
